Dear friends and colleagues

We have the pleasure to announce on http://www.childtrafficking.com the OSCE Conference on:

Child trafficking: responses and challenges at local level, Vienna, 26-27 May 2008

Welcome

Child trafficking, which is a crime under international law, is still a reality in the OSCE region. The 8th Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons Conference focuses on lessons learned and experiences when combating child trafficking in major capitals.

The conference will also pay particular attention to how communities are addressing this crime. The aim is to encourage local authorities and other stakeholders to address current gaps, as well as to underline the importance that such local structures may have in the overall national policy and responses to this phenomenon, including external co-operation between country of origin and destination.

The conference takes place in Vienna on 26-27 May 2008. It will include presentations by local authorities, international organizations and NGOs showing concrete examples of programmes, policy responses in the area of outreach, victim identification and protection, durable solutions and bilateral undertakings, followed by discussions and recommendations on the best interests of trafficked
