Dear friends and colleagues

We have again updated the digital library http://www.childtrafficking.com  - a South Asia-based website supported by many activists around the globe. All forms of trafficking are addressed, including trafficking for labor purposes. The website focuses on children, and includes the latest information on strategies for trafficking prevention, as well as for the rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of trafficking. The digital library http://www.childtrafficking.com  focuses on the outcomes of trafficking, such as the use of forced labor or slavery like practices, no matter how people arrive in these conditions.

The update includes 13 new documents dealing with PREVENTION, ENFORCEMENT and BEST PRACTICES

The Future Group. (2007). Faster, Higher, Stronger: Preventing Human Trafficking at the 2010 Olympics. 25 p. Dottridge, M., Feneyrol, O. (2007). Action to strengthen indigenous child protection mechanisms in West Africa to prevent migrant children from being subjected to abuse. 21 p. The article aims to suggest 'alternative' ways of preventing children from being trafficked, as conventional approaches in West Africa are flawed. The alternatives ways are build on practices which have strong legitimacy at local/popular level, rather than imposing 'top down'. The article advocates for a model of prevention based on indigenous practices, community participation and protection mechanisms. http://www.childtrafficking.com/Content/Library/?CID=d2ddea18f00665ce8623e36bd4e3c7c5|545b

It looks at factors that prompt children to leave their country, problems and risks when they are in transition and their experiences in the country of destination. http://www.childtrafficking.com/Content/Library/?CID=ad61ab143223efbc24c7d2583be69251|545c
